What Are “Certified” Coins?

Certified coins are those that have been authenticated and assessed by either the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) or Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). Certified coins are sealed in plastic slabs after grading and given a serial number for verification. Each coin is graded on a scale from 1 to 70, with 70 representing a coin in perfect condition.
